2024 Spring Update
In Autumn 2023 The Textile Studio at The Old School closed. Maria has downsized and is now based in a space in central Warrington. As part of this Maria is no longer offering termly classes. Maria will be taking limited private/bookings for off site guild workshops; 1:1 or small group sessions in Sewing, Felt and Creative textiles/Print, while Maria looks to undertake CPD with a tilt towards creative therapy's.

A bright, encouraging and inspiring environment.
The studio is a welcoming supportive space that offers opportunities to learn, develop and be creative within a range of contemporary textiles, from felt making to print and stitch. With day workshops and regular classes as well as scope to cater for 1:1 learning, CPD, Guilds and even the odd 60th birthday party.

Some sessions are subsidised as part of the studios non-profit arm 'Creative Ties CIC'. We believe in the therapeutic value of creative engagement. Some get this from the process of designing, others in the making; though that’s not to discount the value of sharing with likeminded folks over a cuppa.

Felt making - Free machine stitch/drawing - Lino, Gelli and Silk Screen Printing - Dressmaking - Hand Embroidery are all part of a yearly schedule in the Studio.
Workshops/Sessions
Felt making, stitch or print workshops. (or perhaps something that blends a couple of these together!) 1 or 2 day weekend workshops - so great for those that have a busy working week. Generally suitable for beginners or those looking to develop something they have already tried.
Studio Days
'Funky Fridays'
An informal bookable 'rent a work space' session. This runs on the 3rd Friday of the month for studio members. If you have a project idea and are competent with the equipment you need, eg sewing machines, printing or felting kit etc - I am here. Email in with a question or book a slot...
Gift Vouchers
In need of a gift for a crafty friend? Vouchers are available for any amount or to cover workshops and courses.
Termly Classes
These are weekly classes. Running termly covering either Felt making or Dress-making on a Tuesday; or Creative Textiles on a Wednesday. Suitable for beginners!

1:1 and CPD
We all engage with learning in our own way and sometimes a little 1:1 is just what we need. This might be for understanding how to use a sewing machine at your pace over a coffee, or maybe some CPD to help with a process you would like to inject into your own work...
Materials & Kits
I hold supplies in the studio for a number of techniques and processes including wet felt making, as well as some funky embroidery kits. Please get in contact if you are local and are in need of fibres for a project.
Have a go Craft
Have a go Craft is a weekly session that runs on a Thursday. It's open to those interested in textiles/craft combined with 'creativity for well being'. Each session dips into a different process or craft and comes with a cuppa. Find out more.
Team building, Guilds,
Party groups
Are you a crafty kind of person and fancy sharing a creative experience with your pals? Or perhaps you plan team days or Guild sessions. Lets look at a bit of gelli printing for fun; lino cutting, sewing or try a bit of felt making - why not connect, learn and 'play' together!
